Iconicity

By Bob Morrison

Iconicity is a show about photographs that explores the power of 15 images whose ability to affect us has made them icons of their times. It does this with movement and dance and music and, yes, with words. The ensemble works together in wondrous ways.

On stage are Ryan Christie, Jennifer Crooks, Mary C. Davis, Ty Hallmark, K Clare Johnson, James Radack and Paul Nalabandian, and James Radack. Behind the scenes are stage manager Chris Klimek, Running Crew Jeff Crooks Stella Dilke, public relations.

How are timeless images interpreted? Mainly through the fascinating stories associated with them. We learn how some photographs happen to be taken, like the Dorothea Lange portrait of a migrant mother.

Some images awaken memories within us of their times and events. For other images we see the consequences, for better or worse, of the fame the photo brought its creator.

At this writing, there will be three more showings: Friday, July 25 at 6:30 p.m., Saturday July 26 at 7 p.m. and Sunday July 27 at 5 p.m. This is a beautiful, thought provoking, powerful production that deserves a longer run. Anyone who has ever taken a photograph or looked at one will enjoy it. For more pictures of Iconicity, click here.
